The copyright fees paid by Romanian cable operators will rise from 2% to 6% of their income from this month, according to the Broadband Cable Communications Association (ACC).
Quoted in Media Expres, it adds that the payments will be made to a unique collector to be established by the Romanian Copyright Authority (ORDA).
The ACC also says that operators will have to sign an agreement entitled “authorisation for the un-exclusive licence” with the unique collector.
Although the increase is likely to be contested, collection societies were originally asking for a six-fold increase of 12%.
