Ziggo, Holland’s largest cable operator today officially confirmed that is supporting the CI Plus standard for conditional access. The move was first reported in Broadband TV News.
Commercial director Marcel Nijhoff said in a statement: “We wanted to be ready before the first CI Plus devices appear on the market. Now, in the spring of 2009, Samsung, Philips, Sony, LG and others are introducing the first model ”
Nijhoff said that this rapid deployment was made possible by the close cooperation between the television manufacturers, conditional access provider Irdeto and Ziggo. Ziggo took the decision to go with CI Plus in May of last year.
