Latvia’s Lattelecom has provided an assessment of its performance in 2008 and outlined plans for this year.
The incumbent telco, which list Telia Sonera as an indirect (49%) shareholder, saw its IPTV subscriber total quadruple in 2008. It has also recently secured a licence to operate an MPEG-4 –based DTT service.
This began trials this month, offering signals within a 30km radius of the capital, Riga, and should make its debut national commercial debut this autumn.
Lattelecom has also begun installing infrastructure that will allow it to offer internet access at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
The telco has in addition posted a record turnover of LVL160.4 million (€229.7 million) for 2008, with group profits amounting to LVL29.7 million.
