CABLE CONGRESS 2009 – BERLIN. “We have made great progress, but we still have a way to go,” said Kabel Deutschland CEO Adrian von Hammerstein on the subject of a possible merger between all three former Deutsche Telekom network operators.
Consolidation is a necessity. “As we compete with international telcos, we need to have a national footprint. The internet telephony market is brutal, the television market is tough.”
At Kabel Deutschland the company has seen tremendous ARPU growth: the average was €11.22 last December, compared with €9.62 a year earlier.
“But for triple play the average per customer is between €40 to €60.”
