The Dutch research institute for TV viewing SKO has started to measure viewing figures for digital channels in the country. During a trial period research showed that 14.5% of all Dutch people watched digital channels at least once a week. Of the people that are able to receive digital TV, the actual reach was 28.1%.
During the entire four week test run, 27.4% of the entire population of six years and older watched a digital channel at least once; the figure being 48.5% for digital TV viewers.
During the test period, the three best watched digital channels were Humor TV (comedy from the public broadcasters) with 6.2% weekly reach, 101TV (a youth oriented channel from the public broadcasters (5.5%) and Discovery Science (4.7%).
Following the trial, regular reporting will also just provide cumulative weekly reach figures of the digital channels.
