French language international broadcaster TV5Monde is preparing an online VOD portal, which will be offered on both the web and on IPTV.
The service is to go online as early as April. According to the French Tele-Satellite website, the portal will be divided into thematic sections. One will be mainly aimed at younger viewers. Another will be VOD Theater, which will offer some 140 French theatrical works. Also in the works is a special section with French movies, called VOD Cinéma.
Access will be worldwide, but certain programmes might be geoblocked because of rights issues.
In the fourth quarter of 2009, TV5 will launch the VOD portal 100% Africa, which will also become available on IPTV platforms in France.
