TVN has taken overall control of the Polish new generation DTH platform n, raising its stake in the company from 25% to 51%.
It will pay €46.2 million in cash to Neovision Holding Amsterdam, the sole owner of ITI Neovision, which operates n.
The DTH platform n is the third largest in Poland after Cyfrowy Polsat and Cyfra+, claiming 527,000 post-paid and 157,000 pre-paid customers at the end of 2008.
Interestingly, it also claims a market share of over 90% in next generation DTH technologies such as HD, PVR and VOD services.
The acquisition of a majority stake in n continues what is effectively a consolidation process of ITI assets that began last May, when TVN acquired a 25% shareholding in n plus the option to increase its stake to 51% after three years.
