ARTE says it has stopped co-operating with the Polish public broadcaster TVP.
Speaking to the Polish daily Dziennik, the cultural channel’s development director Hans-Walter Schlie said that the anti-Semitic views of TVP’s head Piotr Farfal were incompatible with its “philosophy based on intercultural exchange.”
Farfal, who was formerly an active member of a youth group linked to the LPR political party, has criticised the decision, pointing out that ARTE made no mention of his political affiliations during the three years he sat on TVP Supervisory Board.
He has also denied representing any political party or movement whilst in his current role. ARTE has worked with TVP since 1993 and has indicated that it will do so again once Farfal leaves his post.
