Czech IPTV market slows

February 25, 2009 07.38 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Take-up of the Czech Republic’s leading IPTV service O2 TV has slowed considerably.

According to Parabola, the Telefónica O2-owned service ended 2008 with 115,000 subscribers, or only 15,000 more than five months earlier.

O2 TV was launched in September 2006 and expected to have 140,000 subscribers by the end of last year.

However, it remains one of most successful IPTV operations in Central and Eastern Europe and the Czech Republic a leading market for IPTV, despite the recent closure of the Volny TV service.
