The Polish public broadcaster TVP is likely to experience serious financial difficulties this year.
According to Wirtualne Media, its supervisory board has accepted a financial plan that envisages a loss of over PLN70 million (€14.1 million) in 2009.
The cutbacks TVP plans will be particularly felt at the international channel TV Polonia, which will see its budget cut from last year’s PLN54 million to PLN39 million.
Significantly, the supervisory board also plans to meet next week to consider the futures of TVP’s president TVP Andrzej Urbanski and vice presidents Slawomir Siwka and Marcin Bochenka, who were suspended last December.
