Latvia’s soon-to-be-launched DTT service is attracting huge interest from foreign set-top box suppliers.
According to the incumbent telco Lattelecom, which will be operating the service, it had as of this Monday (February 16) already received no fewer than 26 bids from companies from around the world, including Korea, France, Finland and Germany, to supply receivers.
Further applications will be welcomed up until this Thursday (February 19) and the selection procedure start on the following day.
Lattelecom will subject chosen receiver models to a period of testing prior to recommending them to subscribers.
Lattelecom, which already operates an IPTV service named Lattelecom TV, will launch its DTT platform in the capital, Riga, and then extend its coverage to the cities of Kurzeme and Zemgale, as well as Vidzeme and Latgale.
