Cable TV connections at Finland’s largest cablenet Welho held steady on the quarter. 323,000 homes were connected as of December 31, 2008, an increase of just 1,000 on the quarter, but of 4,000 year-on-year in the now all-digital country.
Investment in HD channels by parent company Sanoma helped grow pay-TV subscriptions by 20,000 year-on-year to 106,000. The company said the majority of the €13.5 million investment made by Sanoma Entertainment in 2008 had gone into the development of Welho’s cable network and services.
