The Czech IPTV service Volny TV has closed.
Although details of the development are sketchy, there is a brief statement on its website to the effect that it is no longer available.
Digizone reports that Volny TV had only limited coverage, being initially available in Prague and Brno and subsequently extended to only to Pilsen, Usti nad Labem and Hradec Kralove.
Its subscriber total, back in 2007, was believed to be in the hundreds rather than thousands.
Volny TV is one of the first IPTV closures in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Ironically, it has come in a country where the take up of services has until now been high, with Telefónica O2’s O2 TV the undisputed market leader.
