The US House of Representatives has agreed to delay analogue switch-off until June 12. The original “hard switch-off” was scheduled to take place on February 17, and week ago a similar bill failed to pass.
Under terms of the new bill, broadcasters will have the option of cutting off their analogue signals early if they so desire, thought June 12 is the hard switch-off date. The bill now goes to the White House for President Barack Obama’s signature in order to become law.
The bill also allows households with expired $40 (€30.9) vouchers towards the purchase of a digital-to-analogue set-top box to reapply for them.
