The Travel Channel is to launch a German version in May as part of the Eutelsat Kabelkiosk headend-in-the-sky. The channel will initially reach 2.8 million households.
Kabelkiosk serves more than 250 cable operators in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Denmark, with 110 digital channels in 11 languages. The Travel Channel hopes to sign further distribution deals with other platforms in the German language market.
“Germany is Europe’s largest TV market and also has the highest number of people who travel to far away destinations,” said CEO Richard Wolfe. “This agreement underscores our long-term use of a customer-oriented service for Germany and German-speaking customers.”
