The federal government in Australia will roll out satellite services next year, giving all households access to free-to-air digital television. The northwestern Victorian community of Mildura will be the first to switch to full digital TV, according to a report on Radio Australia.
Communications minister Stephen Conroy said satellite services will take digital TV to areas that have been plagued by poor signals or no reception at all. “We are going with satellite technology which will reach out far, far broader than previous towers.”
