Eagle Rock buys into i-Concerts

January 19, 2009 12.07 Europe/London By Robert Briel

santanaIndependent TV and DVD producer Eagle Rock Entertainment has acquired a 20% stake in i-concerts, Transmedia’s cross platform live music channel. Since its launch in 2005, i-concerts HDTV and VOD platforms have consistently featured a selection of Eagle Vision music programming, with performances from Santana, Snoop Dog, Deep Purple, Live from Montreux series and more.

“Live Concerts are the healthiest segment of the music industry today,” commented Terry Shand, Executive Chairman, Eagle Rock, in a statement. “Becoming shareholders in i-concerts allows us to marry our content with their digital distribution. It will enable us to work closely together to develop innovative new ways to reach consumers via all the different digital and TV media. The sky’s the limit to what we can do here!”

“This partnership with Eagle Rock is not only a fantastic commercial opportunity, but also a vote of confidence from one of the industry’s key players. It means that i-concert’s vision and commercial model are working and are in alignment with the needs of artists, producers and music fans,” added Natalia Tsarkova, CEO, i-concerts.

At the moment the i-concerts HDTV channel is now available across all IPTV and digital cable households in France. The i-concerts VOD platform also recently launched in Italy on Fastweb, and across Eastern Europe with Airbites, in addition to being carried by the broadband operators in France, Belgium, Switzerland and South Korea.

Eagle Rock is a music TV production company with catalogue properties including live concert performances from artists including The Bee Gees, Queen, The Who and Eric Clapton, the Classic Album series including releases from Pink Floyd, Nirvana and The Doors, and the Montreux Festival archive and contemporary output.
