The Polish Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has received two applications to operate what will be the country’s first mobile TV service.
According to the regulator, the bids are from Mobile TV and Info TV-FM.
The former is a recently formed consortium of Poland’s four mobile companies – Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (Era), Polkomtel (Plus), PTK Centertel (Orange) and P4 (Play) – while the latter is a transmission company, based in Zamosc, known to have undertaken both DTT and DVB-H trials.
The winner of the operators’ licence will have the right to operate a DVB-H service in 31 towns and cities up to May 31, 2015, and nationally from June 1, 2015 to December 31, 2023.
