Dave, the self-styled home of witty banter, is adding its +1 hour channel to the UK’s DTT platform Freeview.
The move follows improvements in compression technology by Arqiva and will be in addition to the two multiplexes already operated by the transmission company. The channel, already available on Sky and Virgin Media, will go live on January 22 and continue between 08.00 and 04.00 daily.
“Dave is a key part of our highly successful entertainment portfolio that has recently been re-branded and re-positioned to provide even clearer propositions to viewers and advertisers,” said UKTV’s Executive Director, Business & Operations, Julia Jordan. “Adding Dave+1 to Freeview will further extend the valuable 16-44Men reach of the channel and will also continue to provide a strong platform to promote to our line-up of channels that are available on platforms such as Sky and Virgin Media.”
Since its relaunch from UKTV G2 in October 2008, Dave has become the 10th largest station in multichannel homes. Its mix of popular comedy, panel games, and light hearted documentary features has helped define the channel while providing Freeview households with a glimpse of multichannel television outside of the public broadcasters.
