Polish mobile ops prepare DVB-H bid

January 9, 2009 09.59 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Moves to launch a DVB-H service in Poland are gathering momentum.

According to Wirtualne Media, Mobile TV, a consortium made up of the country’s four mobile TV operators, will submit its bid for an operator’s licence by the tender deadline of January 15.

Quoting Wojciech Jabczynski, Mobile TV’s president, it added that each of the four members of the consortium had been allocated a specific task in a future DVB-H service.

Orange, for instance, would take care of finance and administration, while Era would oversee the network. Plus would meanwhile be responsible for the headend and provision of an EPG, and Play the content for the service.

Bids to operate Poland’s new DVB-H service are being submitted to the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE).
