HBO is positive about its prospects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia despite the current global economic crisis.
Interviewed in E15 and quoted by Medialne, Ondrej Zach, HBO’s director in both countries, said that its future focus will not necessarily be on new channels.
The current focus is on HBO Digital, which in the future will be distributed over the internet.
He added that the company is not perturbed by the crisis, having seen its subscriber total in the Czech Republic, where it currently has 250,000 subscribers, rise in parts of the country with high unemployment.
Zach said he also saw the likelihood of further subscriber growth in Slovakia.
