Serbia’s delays in replacing analogue with digital television could make it a “black hole” in South Eastern Europe.
According to its telecommunications and information society minister, Jasna Matic, the delays would deprive local TV stations of a part of their audience and revenues to rivals in neighbouring countries.
She added that the Serbian public broadcaster RTS will need the state’s help to make the digital switchover, a project whose costs are estimated at between €20 million and €50 million.
Neighbouring countries are expected to complete ASO by 2015.
