Discovery Networks International is to launch Investigation Discovery (ID) in the UK on January 20, 2009 with carriage on Sky and cable. It will be the first appearance outside of the United States for the channel that initially made its debut in January 2008.
A minor reshuffle of Discovery’s EPG inventory will place ID on channel 551 of the Sky Guide.
ID will draw on a line-up of investigative programming from the US and the UK and will focus on the science of forensics and how it is used in investigation work. Fact based stories will sit alongside an analysis of investigations and interviews with those who have worked on the evidence. Key titles include Serial Killers, Deadly Women and Crime Museum UK.
“International consumer interest in crime and investigative programming is robust and growing,” said Greg Ricca, President and CEO, Discovery Networks International. “Investigation Discovery will strengthen our best-in-class portfolio of international networks by engaging new audiences with intriguing, quality content that only Discovery can provide with credibility and remarkable storytelling.”
ID will be up against History Channel’s Crime and Investigation Network.
