Interactive service provider TV Keys has announced the commercial launch of its TV Keys service. The long awaited addition to the Sky interactive portfolio comes at a time when many channels are withdrawing from the Red Button arena. Channel 4 is scheduled to end the use of the Red Button for commercial activity at the end of December.
Miniweb maintains interactive content remains an important and viable part of the marketing mix. “The launch of TV Keys is an important part of the Miniweb strategy to deliver innovative, standards-based interactive solutions that allow broadcasters, network operators, content owners and advertisers to easily and cost effectively deliver new value-adding services,” said Andrew Carver, CEO, Miniweb. “With TV Keys we are providing the consumer with the easiest route to interactivity from the comfort of a sofa without the need for a PC, enabling the broadest interactive experiences with a TV remote control.”
For the first time TV Keys provides a regionalised element to interactive content, allowing brands to purchase the service for individual counties or nationwide coverage. Viewers will see a distinctive on-air icon incorporating a word or phrase entered through the Sky remote. It is also possible to use the icon online or in printed matter.
