ACC Broadband Convention – Bucharest. Cable remains a lucrative business in Romania.
According to research undertaken and published by Media Expres, of the 696 companies active in the industry, no fewer than 74% are in profit.
In 2007, the total turnover in the cable industry amounted to RON2.4 billion (€639.8 million), with that of the 118 members of the country’s leading cable association (ACC) accounting for around 80% of the total. The highest turnover was posted by RCS/RDS (RON1.157 billion), followed by UPC Romania (RON558.5 million), Promisat (RON113 million) and Digital Cable Systems (RON64.5 million).
