Kids channel Jetix has signed a multi-year extension to its cable carriage deal with UPC. The agreement with one of its largest distributors in the region covers Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
A further distribution deal has been signed with NTV, the channel’s second largest distributor in Russia. In the UK Jetix has signed a two-year extension to its Sky carriage agreement that will keep it on the DTH platform until at least 2012.
In total Jetix is now available in 52.3 million households, an increase of 1.8 million.
The new agreements follow June’s shift in the way Jetix sells its channels. A deal was signed with Disney-ABC-ESPN Television (DAET) that adds Jetix to a portfolio that also includes the Disney and ESPN channels.
Advertising grew strongly in East Europe, Poland increasing revenues by 30%, however healthy growth in Italy, Spain and Scandinavia was offset by declines in The Netherlands and France.
Overall revenues decreased by €29.51 million to €136.9 million in line with management expectations. The company made a net profit of €20.1 million.
