The number of digital homes for UPC Nederland grew by 20,800 to a total of 620,200 during the third quarter of the year. While this represented a 29% digital penetration rate, the total number of TV homes fell to 2,067,900.
The number of homes passed was 2,730,900, and UPC had a 75.7% penetration, or an additional 1%. The decrease in homes connected was mainly due to increased competition from the terrestrial Digitenne platform from KPN.
On the upside, UPC reports that 40% of its digital subscribers were taking either a PVR or an HD subscription as of Q3. This led to a 70% increase in turnover per digital subscriber compared with a year earlier.
