Tiscali has said it is in exclusive talks with BSkyB over the sale of its UK business.
“With regard to what has been reported by the press and following Consob’s request, Tiscali clarifies that it is currently holding talks with the BSkyB Group Plc in relation to certain UK assets,” Tiscali said in the briefest of statements.
The proposed £450 million (€568.7 million) deal would net Sky some 1.8 million subscribers, though only around 50,000 take the ISP’s TV over ADSL service.
BSkyB emerged as the favoured purchaser after Carphone Warehouse withdrew from the process.
