The Dutch talk TV channel Het Gesprek (The Conversation) will relaunch in January with financial backing from the Postcode Lottery. In the last few weeks it became apparent that the channel was in financial difficulties when no new programming was scheduled.
Het Gesprek was originally envisaged to be an all-talk TV channel and achieved almost universal analogue cable carriage in The Netherlands. However, it had difficulties finding an audience and advertisers.
The backing of the Postcode Lottery will be for a period of two years and in return the charities that benefit from the lottery will receive airtime on the channel. Programming also include a daily World News bulletin from BBC World and next days broadcasts of the David Letterman Show.
