Deutsche Welle is expanding its amount of programming in the Arabic language to 12 hours daily, an increase of four hours.
“We are increasing Germany’s media presence in one of the most important regions and media markets in the world,” said Deutsche Welle Director General Erik Bettermann. “This is a very heterogeneous region that differs not only geographically, but in its political and cultural characteristics as well – our content needs to represent that.”
The new DW-TV Arabia schedule will include a mix of politics, business, culture, society and sport alongside documentaries and features dubbed into Arabic. The channel is broadcast over Nilesat 102 and Hot Bird 8.
