BBC Worldwide has hired Ian McDonough as its new vice president for commercial development, EMEA.
McDonough will be responsible for growing the international distribution of the BBC’s new thematic channel portfolio, BBC Entertainment, BBC HD, BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies, alongside BBC World News. He will also work with the EMEA Ad Sales to implement strategy and budgets as well as identifying new business development.
Joining from The History Channel he handled the rollout of History’s HD services in Scandinavia, the Benelux and Central Europe and established VOD services in the UK, Ireland, Belgium and The Netherlands.
Prior to History, McDonough was director of sales for MTV Asia. He holds an MBA from Imperial College London and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Exeter.
