A new channel is being opened up within Multiplex A of the UK DTT system. SDN is inviting proposals for the channel that will be available 24 hours a day from early in 2009.
It is the third block of capacity to be offered by SDN is less than a year. Earlier this month it was confirmed that Discovery Communications had secured multiplex capacity from the ITV plc-owned operator. A fourth capacity block is currently being advertised by fellow multiplex operator Arqiva.
It is believed that Discovery paid in the region of £10 million to secure its block, in line with previous capacity auctions.
