PIKE, ZAKOPANE. Poland’s forthcoming DVB-H platform will include up to three must-carry channels in its offer, according to Witold Kolodziejski, the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
He added that the issue of must-carry had only come into consideration when it was decided to increase the validity of the DVB-H multiplex operator’s licence from 2015 to 2013.
Kolodziejski was keen to stress that the DVB-H platform should be seen as principally a TV rather than multimedia service, with a minimum 66% of its capacity required to be allocated to TV channels.
Crucially, he also revealed that TV channels carried on the DVB-H platform would not have to be licensed in Poland.
Rather, they would have to fulfil the specific criteria required for carriage on the platform, which conform to Polish law.
