Romania’s Realitatea Media Group (RMG) has announced plans to launch three pay-TV movie channels by December.
According to Media Expres, one of the channels will be for action films, one for comedies and one for newly released films.
Quoting Bogdan Chiritoiu, RMG’s project manager, Media Expres adds that unlike HBO, which is distributed on its own and for a separate fee, the new channels will make up a regular pay-TV package and be introduced into any cable TV offer.
On air for 18 hours daily and going 24-hour within three months, the package containing the channels will also be cheaper than HBO.
Negotiations to secure carriage are currently taking place with Romania’s five DTH platforms and leading MSOs UPC and RCS/RDS.
