The Polish DTH platform Cyfra+ has provided details of its plans and expectations for the rest of this year and 2009.
In a wide ranging press conference with the local media, Arnaud de Villeneuve, the head of the platform’s operating company Canal + Cyfrowy, said that Cyfra+ expects to end this year with 1.3 million subscribers – it currently has 1.1 million.
Besides also saying he expected the platform to improve its financial performance in the second half of this year, de Villeneuve confirmed what is already common knowledge, namely that Cyfra+ will apply for both a DTT and DVB-H licence.
Interesting, he ruled out the possibility of Cyfra+ being taken over by another DTH platform, adding that any consolidation, which he in any case considered unlikely, would see Cyfra+ in the role of a buyer.
