The UK division of Setanta Sports has seen losses increase to £3.1 million (€3.9 million), taking the pay-TV broadcaster’s accumulated losses to £4.6 million.
Although income rose by 48% on the back of Setanta’s coverage of the Premier League, this was more than accounted for by a four-fold increase in the cost of sales.
Turnover at Setanta Sport PPV rose to £11.3 million in 2007 from £7.7 million the previous year.
The broadcaster is available in three million homes in the UK and Ireland including 1.4 million premium subscribers, through BSkyB and Top Up TV, the remainder accounted for through wholesale agreements with Virgin Media and UPC Ireland.
