Hungary’s Magyar Telekom has announced a huge five-year broadband project.
It will see the incumbent telco invest HUF40 billion (€166.5 million) between 2009-13 on a FTTH network covering some 780,000 homes and the upgrade of its hybrid fibre-coax network, employing EuroDocsis 3.0 technology, reaching a further 380,000 households.
The project will allow Magyar Telekom to offer its subscribers such services as HDTV and internet access at speeds of up to 100Mbps.
