The Dutch company behind the music channels TV Oranje and Brava HDTV, Jur Bron and Gerard Ardesch, are set to launch Schlager TV, a 24/7 channel specialising in German schlager music.
The new channel has already signed distribution contracts with DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet and with the small cable operator Cogas Kabel, which serves customers near the German border.
The people behind the venture claim recent research amongst Dutch cable consumers has shown that there is an interest in German music and that radio stations playing this kind of music are very popular.
