Subscribing to broadband services in parts of Spain where this is no competition is 35% more expensive than it would otherwise be, according to a study produced by ADSLzone.
Data from the regulator CMT indicates that 460,707 broadband connections now fall into this higher price category.
ADSLzone also found that broadband services offered by Telefónica, Jazztel and ONO were the most reliable and valued by their customers.
The most popular internet packages in Spain currently offer access speeds of 3Mbps.
