French IPTV platform Free has announced plans to introduce a multiroom option to its subscribers.
Like DTH platform Canal+, which introduced its own multiroom solution last week, Free will use the Powerline system to link together the two set-top boxes. Powerline is a popular choice for internet access in France, given that it feeds internet access through the domestic electricity system, rather than the wireless Wi-Fi.
Free users can either take the €4.99 per month option that allows reception of HD signals on a second set – not that many second sets have HD availability – with a €9.99 option adding PVR functionality.
Free will provide customers with a box that also features a DTT tuner.
