Norwegian DTT platform RiksTV has passed the 250,000-subscriber mark, a little over one year after launch, taking it halfway towards its five-year target of 500,000 customers.
According to communications director Svein Ove Søreide sales have gone much better than expected, opening up a gap with other television distributors, despite heavy competition in the market.
Sales are at their strongest in Norway’s northern counties where analogue television is scheduled to cease in the autumn. Viewers continue to make their purchase decisions after digital switchover leading to further sales.
