IBC 2008 – AMSTERDAM. The French company Neotion has demonstrated its Neotion Pocket Recorder (NPR) claiming it to be the first to use SD Cards. The NPR will be available for under €90 and slot in the back of any flat screen TV set. Using SD cards of 4, 8, 16 or 32 GB, viewers will be able to pause and rewind live TV. The device promises to deliver the “control over Live TV” capabilities until now only available on PVRs
The NPR can also serve as a Media Center when connected to the Neotion TV Media Player, enabling the seamless connection of one or more PCs to the TV set. Using a straight Ethernet cable, or other means like wireless Wi-Fi or Power Line (HomePlug), one can hook the network to the main TV set. That way, it also becomes possible to upload the contents recorded on the SD Card to the PC.
