ASO continued in Austria today with the end of analogue transmissions in a further 11 of the country’s regions. Viewers in the areas of Dalaas, Gaschurn, Lech and Raggal/Kreuzbühel are no longer are able to receive analogue terrestrial broadcasts.
In a related development, the regulator Komm Austria is said to have expressed its intention to issue regional licences to operate regional platforms on the third digital multiplex (MUX C). The licence holders will be responsible for the content of each regional mux.
According to local press reports, the regulator plans to issue the following licences: Vienna/Lower Austria/Burgenland to cable operator N1 from Vienna/Neudorf; in East Steiermark, to the cable operator Weststeirische Kabel-TV; for northern Upper Austria to LT1; for Innviertel/Wels to RTV; and for Tirolean Oberland to the Stadtwerke Imst.
