Outgoing Premiere CEO Michael Börnicke is to be replaced by senior News Corp executive Mark Williams.
Börnicke resigned yesterday (September 10) citing personal reasons giving News Corp the opportunity to move Williams into the CEO chair from the German pay-TV operator’s supervisory board.
Earlier this week News Corp COO Peter Chernin said the company was looking to further increase its holding in Premiere, but no immediate moves were planned.
Williams is seen as a steady hand who will put a strong focus on Premiere’s operating costs. His initial term will be for 12 months, after which he will decide whether to stay on as CEO or return to his non-executive role on the board.
