Harmonic is commemorating its 20th anniversary since the company was first incorporated. “It’s 20 years in which we’ve really developed at lot of expertise,” said Vice President, Business Development at Harmonic Inc. “It’s in our DNA now, not just about intellectual properties and patents, but the knowhow and the customer support guys.”
Recently announced wins include DirecTV, Sky Italia and PCCW. Price says the company is present in seven of the world’s leading operators.
Harmonic is moving its technical centre from Slough to Farnborough and a new commercial centre is also being established. “We’ll have a place in Europe that will have responsibility for all the international operations and take it away from being centralised in Silicon Valley,” explained Price.
On its booth Harmonic will show content being repurposed and delivered to a Nokia N95, a car seat display and a PSP, using its Rhozet technology.
There will also be a chance to see the Gator system that makes it possible to run sophisticated applications, including VOD trick play on the most basic of set-top boxes, by placing the load on the network.
