MTV has signed an agreement with GlobeCast for a second transponder on the Eutelsat Eurobird 9 satellite. The additional capacity will be used for distribution of MTV Portugal.
Eurobird 9, located at 9 degrees East, provides broadcast coverage to Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa. GlobeCast has two dedicated transponders on Eurobird 9 that facilitate uplink from the UK and France. The company receives MTV’s channel feed via fibre at its London Technical Operations Centre.
