The Polish mobile operator Era may start to offer IPTV services through its fixed line network as soon as 2009.
According to a local report, the company, which is owned by PTC, entered the fixed line sector only three months ago and has already secured 5,000 subscribers.
It expects to have several hundred thousand within the next five years, operating in a market in which Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) has allowed alternative telcos such as Netia and Dialog top compete with the incumbent TPSA.
Era is already known to be co-operating with Cyfrowy Polsat, Poland’s leading DTH platform.
