Poland’s Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has received no fewer than 14 applications for carriage on what will be the country’s first DTT multiplex.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, UKE president Anna Strezynska said they include ones not only from the leading TV channels TVP1, TVP2, TVP Info, TVN, Polsat, TV4 and TV Puls but also a number of radio stations.
She added that should Polsat and TVN wish to simulcast in analogue and digital, they would have to take part in a competition to secure carriage on the multiplex. TVP is automatically guaranteed carriage on the first multiplex, as is TV Puls, which has agreed to relinquish its analogue licence.
A tender for Poland’s second multiplex is likely to be held later this year.
