The timetable for a mobile TV launch in Poland has slipped again.
Local reports indicate that Anna Strezynska, the president of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE), now expects a tender for mobile TV operator to be opened in October, with the winner announced two months later.
The licence on offer will be valid until 2013 – not 2015, as was previously planned – and allow the holder to offer DVB-H services in 31 cities, with those hoisting the Euro 2012 championships allocated two channels rather than one.
A full rollout of mobile TV will be possible once Poland completes the transition to digital broadcasting, which will take place in 2012 if stations such as Polsat and TVN are willing to relinquish their analogue licences, valid until 2014.
