T-Mobile will introduce a mobile TV service in The Netherlands in September. For a monthly fee of €14.95, subscribers will receive Nederland 1 and 3, RTL 4, SBS 6 and MTV Music.
The streaming live channels will be distributed via the operator’s own UMTS/HDSPA network, using the Windows Media player, Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), H.264 videocoding and AAC+ audiocodec. The subscription price will include the web & walk plus fee
Just before summer, competitor KPN introduced its mobile TV service, with 10 channels using a newly built DVB-H network. It costs €9.95 a month and includes two made-for-mobile channels – one from RTL, and a service called Xite.
